Historical pearl - Cesky Krumlov
Cesky Krumlov Cesky Krumlov Cesky Krumlov
Come with us and visit the ancient city of Cesky Krumlov, which, in its beauty, rivals Prague.

This quaint city is situated in Southern Bohemia and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Situated on the Vltava River, the town is dominated by the 13th century Castle, which has both Renaissance and Baroque elements and also offers a splendid view of the town below.

The Castle itself has some of the best preserved interiors in the Czech Republic and boasts a beautiful garden with a revolving theatre.

Inside the Castle are the famous lavishly painted interiors and period furnishings.

Below the Castle is the picturesque town of Cesky Krumlov with its winding streets, colourful Baroque and Renaissance houses giving the town a fairy tale like atmosphere.

There is also the important Egon Shiele museum which is named after one of the most famous residents of this quaint little town. The museum houses an exhibition of both the painters' works and those of contemporary artists.

Plus there are many cafés and restaurants to stop and relax in while visiting this picture perfect Bohemian town.

You will travel 2 1/2 hours to the city of Cesky Krumlov in our own transport.

By prior arrangement and at additional cost, it is possible to arrange short canoeing or rafting on the Vltava river which meanders around the city of Cesky Krumlov.

Kutna Hora, Sedlec Ossuary and St. Barbara Cathedral
Ossary Ossary Ossary St. Barbara Cathedral
The Sedlec Ossuary is a small Roman Catholic chapel, located beneath the Cemetery Church of All Saints, which is a part of the former Abbey in Sedlec, a suburb of Kutna Hora in the Czech Republic.

It hosts a thought provoking display of human remains. The skeletons of more then 40,000 people are artistically displayed here in order to reflect the medieval theory of Memento mori (remember that you have to die, focus your attention towards the immortality of the soul and the afterlife!)

Four enormous bell-shaped mounds occupy the corners of the chapel. An enormous chandelier of bones, which contains at least one of every bone in the human body, hangs from the center of the nave with garlands of skulls draping the vault. Also executed entirely in bone is the coat of arms of the House of Schwarzenberg and the signature of the artist Frantisek Rint.

Apart from the ossuary we will take a walk around the town of Kutna Hora and see its medieval sights. Kutna Hora was the center of the economical power of the Bohemian kingdom in the Late Medieval Period. Its silver mines were responsible for 1/3 of all European silver production in 14th and 15th centuries. From the wealth of its silver mines was rebuilt even the Cathedral at the Prague castle.

Last but not least we will visit "The Saint Barbara"(a Roman Catholic Church in Kutna Hora, one of only four Cathedrals of Bohemia). It is one of the most famous Gothic churches in central Europe and it is a UNESCO world heritage site. St Barbara is the patron saint of miners which was highly appropriate for a town whose wealth was based entirely upon its silver mines.
